A 180 sqft renovation in the 7th arrondissement — a private client's apartment redesigned entirely to honour its architecture while rewriting everything inside it for modern life.
intr ® was appointed to restore this Haussmann apartment — the client's primary residence and a space carrying the weight of a century of accumulated decisions. The brief was precise: strip everything back to the bones of the architecture, then rebuild with restraint. No ornamentation for its own sake. No imported references. What remained had to feel as if it had always been there. Aged oak, raw plaster walls, unlacquered brass, and deep linen upholstery were chosen for their ability to improve with time rather than date with it. Every junction was resolved before a single wall was touched.
" The apartment needed to feel as if it had always looked this way — like nothing had been done to it at all. That kind of restraint is the hardest thing to achieve and the only thing worth pursuing. "
